IDSA Annual Meeting Reminders and Updates

If you attend only one ID event this year, make it the 47th Annual Meeting of IDSA. The premier meeting in the ID field will offer cutting edge, up-to-the-minute updates on pandemic and seasonal influenza, antibiotic resistance, HIV/AIDS clinical advances, and more. Don’t forget to register by Sept. 30 to receive the premeeting rate.

IDSA is taking steps to make this year’s meeting environmentally friendly by no longer printing abstracts in the Final Program. Abstracts will be available online, beginning Oct. 15 using the Online Program Planner, and will also be distributed at the meeting on USB flash drives. In addition, you can use the planner to search for specific sessions and speakers you don’t want to miss, creating your own, day-by-day, personalized itinerary for the meeting. These itineraries may be accessed using a PDA as well.

You can also follow IDSA on Twitter for important announcements and updates leading up to, during, and after the meeting. Check out twitter.com/idsainfo for more information.

Space is still available for all premeeting workshops at the Annual Meeting. Avoid lines onsite by registering now for these workshops (additional costs may apply):

Wednesday, Oct. 28, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.:

Vincent T. Andriole ID Board Review Course

Thursday, Oct. 29, 7 a.m.-noon:

  • Fellows’ Day 2009
  • Pediatric Fellows’ Day 2009
  • Infectious Diseases ABIM Recertification: Self-Evaluation Medical Knowledge Modules
  • Keys to Successful Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT)
  • STD Screening in the HIV Care Setting: Challenges and Controversies
  • Tuberculosis in 2009

To register for a premeeting workshop, go to the IDSA 2009 registration page, and enter your last name and customer ID number from your confirmation. Once you land on the Booking Summary page, click the VIEW/MODIFY button next to your name. This will bring you to the Registration Summary page. Scroll down and click the ADD ITEMS button in the Pending Purchases box.

Thinking about next year’s Annual Meeting already? Session suggestions for the 2010 Annual Meeting will be accepted via the IDSA website beginning Oct. 5. Visit the IDSA meetings webpage for more details.

We look forward to seeing you in Philadelphia!
