HIVMA, IDSA Call for Repeal of Needle Exchange Federal Funding Ban

This month, HIVMA and IDSA, in a joint letter, urged Congress to fully repeal the 20-year-old ban on federal funding for needle exchanges programs by removing restrictions in a final appropriations bill currently under negotiation in a House and Senate conference committee. The restrictions would limit the areas where needle exchange programs can operate, hindering urban areas where such efforts are most needed to limit the spread of HIV.
