Congress Fails to Avert Steep Physician Payment Cuts

Physicians will see a 21 percent across-the-board cut in their Medicare payments due to Congress’s failure to pass another short-term fix before the current fix expires on March 1. However, given the near certainty of congressional action on this issue, Medicare has instructed its contractors to hold claims for two weeks, thereby buying Congress more time to pass a short-term fix.

For updates and additional information, including how you can urge Congress to take action, please see IDSA’s website. IDSA continues to advocate for a long-lasting and sustainable solution to the payment problem and urges a permanent fix.
