CDC Raises Alarm on Rising CRE Rates, Stresses Prevention

More inpatients are suffering from infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) in health facilities across the country, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report.

Medicare Payment Cuts to Take Affect April 1

A 2 percent cut in Medicare physician payments will begin taking effect on April 1, unless Congress acts before then.

This month, studies investigating: rising rates of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae; influenza virus in aerosols during routine patient care; printed vs. computerized decision support to reduce antibiotic use in acute bronchitis; and vancomycin-resistant enterococci colonization of the gut and microbiota.
