FDA Requires IND for Fecal Microbiota Transplantation

An investigational new drug (IND) application is needed for the use of fecal microbiota transplantation to treat any disease, including C. difficile infection. 

EIN Update: 13-Valent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine in the Hospital Setting

Members of EIN recently discussed use of the vaccine in the inpatient setting in light of recommendations from the federal Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

IDSA Journal Club

This month, studies investigating: standardized CMV viral load testing in solid-organ transplant recipients; less frequent CD4 monitoring in HIV-infected patients on HAART; penicillin to prevent recurrent cellulitis; and a new nucleotide polymerase inhibitor with pan-genotypic activity for hepatitis C virus infection.
